Yes, the back up lights should come on with the key in just the run
position. Motor does not have to be running.

Subject: DML: Testing backup switch?

Is it possible to test the backup switch without the engine running? I seem
to
have no backup lights. The bulbs are good, so I'm following it back to see
where it's not working.

If the switch is bad, can it be removed without draining the transmission?
