NoX (Nitrous Oxide) is created by high temperature combustion and
oxygen. In other words, the more efficient the engine, the higher the
NoX. By lowering CO2 and Hydrocarbons, NoX goes up. The early NoX
control devices were designed to reduce efficiency of the engine, by
retarding timing or introducing exhaust gasses back into the intake
charge (exhaust will not burn in this case). If I had to guess, I
would say that your EGR valve is stuck shut.
If we cannot afford to take care of Veterans, then we should stop making them.
