I wouldn't tap into the 3rd brake light on the cab cause then you'd have a
wire running from the cab to the shell. If you crawl under the back of your
truck near where the spare tire is mounted, you will find a short pigtail
that goes no where. Will probably be wrapped up and tied to the harness
that runs from drivers side to passenger side. There will be a single wire
in the wire loom. This is a 12VDC brake lamp wire. You will need to just
run a chassis or body ground for the ground side, but use this wire for
power. Will be a shorter run for the power and easier to find.
