Which Hawk pads, though? The HPS for example is a "Street" pad, which
is much milder, lighter dusting, and easier on rotors. The HP Plus pads
are mild "autocross/race" pads that squeal like they're being murdered,
dust like hell and eat rotors like no tomorrow. I ate almost as much
rotor as I ate pad running those things, there literally was a
1/8"-3/16" raised lip around the outside of the rotor where the pads
didn't touch.

Then you get into the "high end race" pads like the Hawk Blue pads that
just plain don't work unless hot.

A friend has the HPS pads on his truck and they've been pretty gentle on
the rotors, even with slotted rotors.

I have Hawk pads on my Dakota, with Brembo rotors. I'm very happy with
this
combo, including winters (Northern Illinois).
