RE: battery temperature sensor

The battery temp sensor is sued to help regulate the alternator output to
the battery. If the battery starts to get hot, then the PCM will reduce the
output of the alternator. I'm running an optima blue top in my truck with
no problems.

Subject: DML: battery temperature sensor

What exactly is it used for on a 99 Dak?

Is it just measuring temperature around the battery, or is it
really trying to measure the battery's temperature?

The reason i'm asking is i'd like to know if putting an optima in
there would cause any charging problems.

Thanks,
eric
