I agree with Mike, its no doubt easier and more time efficient to
rebuild the auto. (probably cheaper too)
One possibility, if time is an issue is to find a used transmission
and slap it in there. That makes it a simple R&R, and the cost
shouldn't be too bad. That allows you to rebuild your transmission at
your leisure or trade it as a core, or sell it to someone who would
rebuild it.
You might also price rebuilt transmissions. I'm sure they are more
expensive than used, but might be worth taking a look at.
