The real question is: what cable company are you switching to? If you're
using Verizon FiOS, that router has to be first in the chain or your DVRs
won't work.

There's nothing that says your current setup has to be scrapped. You can
piggybag your current router to the cable company's router and not have to
mess with your server's IP settings or try to mess with your port
forwarding. A good place to get advice on this sort of stuff is
dslreports.com.

If the new cable provider is not FiOS, you can probably turn off routing in
their combo unit and just use it as a modem. Take the path of least
resistance :)
