Check your ball joints too, just jacking it up may not take the
pressure off them, and you may not SEE the slop. never had Rack issies on
either of mine, after 200-300K miles so doubt it, many ball joints and
several sets of Wheel bearings, and a tierod or two... 
oh and
intermediate shaft every 125K or
so...
