seems if the adjuster is lose it may not be opening, I thought these rode right on the cam...? are they individually adjustable ? might tilt cam , remove chain and then remove head, yes, front cover will probably have to come off to get to tension adjustment on the timing chain..... DO align #1 TDC before removing anything....
