14 volts is good. FWIW, I've had the same starting problems you've had and
it was always a low battery voltage from not driving often or a lot of short
trips with lights and heater fan on. A recharge or a long highway drive
always solved the problem...until eventually the battery wore out and would
no longer take a charge.
