I had this happen once and it came off with some cold water.
Seem the cap needs to contract its bits. I quess if that don't work you can try to break it. It's tough plastic.

I agree with RwP, but then I've operated that way for years. Hence, most of my junk has been broken at one time or another. That's why I own 4 claw hammers,  1 ball-peen, 2 mauls& 3 rubber hammers.
