You have to realize that drag due to wind resistance in creases dramatically
with speed. Just because you can easily get 110mph does not mean that you can
get to 120 or above. It is quite realistic to expect a V8 Dakota to get to
125mph but this thread started with a claim of reaching 150mph which is not
realistic based on only having 220HP and a comparatively un-aerodynamic shape.

The decision to use a 125 mph speedo has little to do with the the actual top
speed of a vehicle. Once the FEDs dropped the 85mph max requirment I would
venture to say CC selected a speedo mechanism that could be used across the
largest segment of their vehicle line. It is cheaper to only inventory one item
and attach a needle and dial face for the specific application.
