Yeah, mine started rusting on both the front and back bumpers within the first
month (January 1994 in snowy/salty Massachusetts) of ownership (alloy
"predator" wheels, so no problem there). Especially near the chrome bolt
heads on the bumpers. I just cleaned them with Turtle Wax Chrome Cleaner and
Polish, looks great and they have never rusted since.

The wheels could be a different story. For the 1994 Dodge Ram the chrome
wheels were defective and a TSB was issued. Any complainers still in warranty
get free wheels.

Try the chrome polish. That's probably all the dealer will do. But check for
TSB's.

Subject: Rust!!
X-MDF: Mail for mcclay sent to phil_mcclay@iegate.mitre.org

My 1996 Club Cab SLT, with a mere 3,000 miles on the odometer, has
started to rust. I didn't mind that light coating on the undercarridge,
but now it has developed rust spots on the chrome bumpers and the chrome
wheels. IMHO, theres nothing like rust to ruin the looks of a
perfectly good automobile. (Or truck, in this case.)

Is there anything I can do about this, and is there anything I can make
the dealer do about this?

Any advice, experience, or comments would be greatly appreciated!

  Thanks!!
