And that really is the issue. If they were on par with the other quality
plugs price wise, they may be worth getting. The plug is well made, it
just doesn't spin fuel into gold as dramaticly as the ads say.
The other thing I HATE about them is that the smooth insulator makes
getting the plug wire boots off a real pain in the butt. Make that the
hand, cause when the boot does come free, you are very likely going to hit
whatever is across from the plug very hard!
Never had the splits in my Dakota, I used them in my Jeep as a trial.
I have run the Champion H.O.T (now called Champion Gold) and their new
Truck Plug. Both of these work very nicely and last. I replace cap and
rotor and plugs every 10,000 miles. In the Dakota, the Champion plugs have
looked real good after 10,000, so when I did my 30,000 mile checkup, I just
cleaned and regapped the plugs. I run a Jacobs ignition and have opened
the gap to 0.045. Even with that, electrode erosion was minimal.
