- About a month ago my Dakota developed a squeal from the left rear brake when
- almost stopped under medium to hard brake application (doesn't do it with
- light pressure).

Dave, I have noticed the same problem as you. It has been doing it for
about a month now. My truck is an 89 Dakota sport 2WD, 3.9, AUTO,
pushing 150K miles. I put all new rear brakes on last fall. Shoes, cut
drums, ALL new hardware, along with parking break cables. The squeal
is intermittent. It doesn't matter if the brakes are cold or hot. I
have not yet had a chance pull the wheels and check it out. One posable
cause of mine is that I noticed that my right axel has a slight bit more
play than the left. (bearing wore)
