AC: A '94 would have R134 refrigerant. There are problems with corrosion in
these systems - if there's any moisture intrusion, it'll rust. This was not
a problem in R12 (Freon) systems. Thank the Greenies for this one. You
should be okay with getting them to fix it as a warranty repair. Your best
bet is if you can bring back a service order with the complaint written on
it (always check what they did, and what they didn't, write on a service order!).
If you have one dated back when it was under warranty, you've got a claim
that'll hold up in court, if need be. Otherwise, you're at the mercy of the
dealer. You might try shopping around to a few out-of-the-way dealerships,
where they might be more interested in taking on warranty repairs (which
don't pay as well as customer service). If the work is slow though, it'll
pay the rent.
Tach: One of two problems. It's an electronic tach, obviously. The meter's
electromechanical movement could be binding (any sign that the shaft of the
indicator rubs on the panel?). Or, the signal from the SBEC isn't getting
to the gauge. Cold solder joints on the instrument panel may be the problem.
I had to jumper the instrument lights because the connector-to-PCB connection
wasn't complete all the time.
We must love these vehicles to put up with all this!

I hunt and eat red meat, thus I'm a game manager.
I own a fossil-guzzling truck, yet I Tread Lightly! wherever I go,

I own and use an Evil Black Gun (or two) but I'm not a criminal.
Paradox? No, I'm from Dakota Territory (Montana) where a man's born FREE.
