I have an '87 which has done very well for me in the year that I've
owned it. My two biggest complaints at this point are:

1. The cruise control sucks. There is no accel button and it usually
drops 5 mph when it is set. I've checked the service manual for the
adjustments of the cruise, and I'll try them when I get a chance. The
newer cruise controls have an accel feature.

2. Lack of overdrive transmission. I have an automatic behind a V6
with 4wd. So far no trouble, but the motor turns pretty fast with
the 3.55 final drive (no tach either :-( ). I'm sure that the motor
would live longer and get better milage if I had an OD tranny.

I've heard of these motors getting 200K+ miles when they are properly
maintained. I usually check odometers in parking lots when I see an
older vehicle, and they usually have 130K+ on them. If the motor's
not currently burning oil and the pressure is OK (above 1/2 on the gauge),
there is probably lots of life left in the drive train.
