Re: Changing oil

On the 92 4x4's it was impossible to get the filter out from the bottom
because of the front axle/transmission/engine/frame/whatever bracket is in
the way. A friend with a 92 also had a new bracket installed by the
dealer under warranty so that he could get the filter out from the bottom.
On mine I wait for the engine to cool down about 45 minutes, move the oil
drain pan under the filter, unscrew the filter (being really tall helps, I
use a stool because I'm not!), drop it down just enough to get a finger
into the center hole and pull the hole thing out the front from under the
exhaust manifold.

I had built a bracket for a remote filter to fit on the right fender well,
but haven't used it because I can't figure out how to get the hoses far
enough away from the exhaust manifold and frame without kinking them. It
occurred to me that copper tubing might be good here but I haven't done
anything about it yet. Anyone got and GOOD ideas, bad ones will also be
accepted!
