Hi all -
Wanted to pick the "collective brain" on the list for a somewhat strange
problem, I'm having. I've got a '96 Dak, with A/C, and the new refrigerant
(R134a), and it works great (the trip up and back to C@C was quite
comfortable). So my problems isn't when the A/C is on, but when it's off,
and usually after I've run the air for a while. If my hot/cold switch is on
the cold side, and not in recirculate mode, I get this weird oily chemical
smell which emanates from the vents, and I can't quite seem to place what it
is or where it's from. Doesn't seem to happen when I'm using warm air
(didn't happen all winter). Could it be A/C compressor oil leaking into
the system?? Ideas??
On another note, while I was at C@C, I ran into a vendor who sells brand-new
Predator wheels which come off the Dakotas which are being sent out for the
Mark III conversions. The pull the stock rims and tires off, and this guy
buys 'em. I was going to buy the full set of just the rims ($200.00) that
he had at Carlisle, but I waited a bit too long, and someone else bought
'em. Now I'm considering buying a set still mounted with the brand new
Wranglers ($450.00) as a spare set of wheels and tires for winter/summer
use. If anyone else on the list is interested in prices, and/or this guy's
phone number, just E-mail me. He's located in Valencia, PA. I think the
prices are quite reasonable compared to from CC or Goodyear.
Ciao!
