Well I installed the system described above last night and drove the truck
to work this morning. Here are my first impressions;

. Almost no noise increase at idle. I get a slight burble (very similar to
the stock exhaust in my Shelby Daytona), blipping the throttle also produces
very little noise increase. WOT acceleration is noticably louder but
certainly will not make anyone at the road side take notice. At hi-way
cruising speeds I am not aware of the exhaust at all unless the slider is
open. NOTE: I started the truck with only the Y-pipe and Cat. and could have
easily gotten away with just putting a pipe from the Cat. back with no
muffler.

. I was not expecting any dramtic increase in power and did not get one.
However, the engine revs more freely and does pull stronger from 2500 rpm to
4000 rpm. The best way I can describe the difference is; The truck always
felt like there was a spring between the gas pedal and the throttle, that is,
there seemed to always be a delay between getting on the gas and when the
truck would accelerate. Now it feels much more connected and instantaneous.

. Overall I am satisfied. The truck needed an exhaust anyway, doing the 2.5"
system with a turbo muffler actually cost less (about $25.00) than buying
stock parts. I would not recomend that someone rip out a good exhaust to do
this (at least not on a pre-magnum 3.9). Headers and a hi-flow cat. are
likely needed to see any big difference in performance.

. Give me a couple of weeks and I will report if there is an increase in
mileage.

Here is the full list of changes from stock on my Dakota engine; 2.5" cat
back exhaust, hi-flow oiled foam air filter, spiral wrapped ignition wires,
autolite platinum plugs. I have no plans to make further changes in search
of improved performance.
