My brother talked to a guy in Daytona who had swapped a 440 in his Dak.
Apparently, he was pretty dissatisfied with the performance, it couldn't hook
up, and just roasted the
tires. Then to compensate for the heavier motor, he changed the front end to
a
torsion bar front end, yet no hook up. Trick Trux in Pennsylvania has a
tubbed 440
91 or 92 Dak. For us leadfooters, torque does us no good it seems, cause you
have to nurse
it outa the hole to hook up. Rpm and gears to pull away seems the best. Then
for you Mudfooters,
torque is the ticket. Big fat 33/12.50's, 8 inches of lift, 4.56 gears front
and rear,
slowing the rotation of the planet, RRRR RRRR RRRRR!!! 360 seems to be the
best builder for both worlds.
Keeps the smog police happier too. Torque in the 400 area or horse in the 400
area, take your pick.
