Re: Overhead Console, CB Mounting

I've thought a bit about mounting a CB in my Dak so that it is not
apparent that it is present. What I've come up with is an underseat
mounting idea. My radio has a lighter plug, so I plan to add wiring
from the dash, running under the carpeting to the underseat area.
I'll extend the microphone using DIN connectors, mounting the socket
under or in the dash with a magnetic Mic clip to hold the microphone.
I'm planning to add a speaker behind the grill where a mono AM radio
speaker would be fitted. For the antenna, I'm planning on replacing
the radio antenna with a unit that includes the loading coil and a
splitter for AM/FM/CB (has anyone tried one of these?).

I usually only monitor one channel at a time and rarely switch, so
it's not important to me to see the front panel of my radio. In fact
the major use that my radio sees is monitoring the weather bands
with the built in weather band selector. Any thoughts on this idea?
