I installed one of these in my 95' Dakota SLT. It only took about a half hour to install. The only drawback is the visor position if you reattach the visors to the shelf. If you sing the visor over to the door window, it points down about 30 degrees. I suppose this could be adjusted by using washers as shims.

The shelf is a bit narrow for mounting a CB radio. I have plans to do just that, but it will require some fabricating to the shelf.

All in all, I like the self. It a great place for the radar detector, garage door opener, shades, etc..., and it looks good enough to where most people think it is a stock item.

Subject: Overhead Console, CB Mounting

Has anyone installed the "Shelf-It" or other overhead console in their
Dakota? The Shelf-It attaches where the sun visors are and then the
visors are attached to the bottom of it. It is open in the front. I'd
like to get something like this for mounting my CB and speaker. Does
anyone have experience with it? Are there any other overhead consoles
available for the Dakota? I'd like for the radio to be overhead and
somewhat concealed rather than just bolted on above the mirror.
