Dakota 5speed warning (was "5 speed Idiot")

Hello,
My Dakota NV 3500 transmission has given way to the relentless
pounding of my massive arm and shattered the shift fork and ground into
shavings the syncros as a result. Just kidding about the arm, but the
aluminum fork has decided to quit. Good news is that it is all covered
under the warranty (7-70,000) and all I have to cover is the header
gaskets since on a cast iron manifold wearing engine doesn't require their
removal. I was told that it wasn't anything I had done (There ought to be
a 6th gear here!) but that the fork wasn't strong enough to do the job.
My advice to those of you late model truck owners is if you have
trouble shifting into any gear, get it checked out while it is under
warranty. It seems that this problem usually occurs in the forward gears
according to the service manager. I don't have the truck back, waiting
for parts, but I'll continue my updates as I find out more.
