No flame taken, just relating my experience here in Texas.
Unfortunately there are fewer and fewer of the reputable tire stores who
really know what they are doing, providing extra service like shaving
your brand new monster mudders so they are round and will last longer,
or balancing the tires mounted on the car. I'm a little frustrated at
not finding one of those shops where I live now.
You'd be surprised at how little many tire people (NTW or Discount
types) really know about tires. When I was buying the 255/70s vs.
235/75 I had to make them put the tires side by side to prove the
similar tire diameter. The salesman was trying to sell me 235/70s
saying they were just as tall as the 235/75s.
Just like any other business, big chains are taking customer service out
of the tire industy.
Now back to the topic of the list - Dakotas.
