1998 Dodge Durango

Also, in the published magazine of PM Feb 1997, there is a drawing and
info.

"Now the folks at Dodge have finally admitted to what they were denying
all along--there will be a sport/utility vehicle at Dodge dealers." ".
. .the Durango is base on the Dakota pickup. It can accomodate eight
people, thanks to an available third seat. Headroom and legroom in the
third seat is more than adequate for most adults, due in part to the 3-
to 4-in. rise in the rood at the rear of the cabin. With Durango, Dodge
dealers will not really e in direct competition against their cousins
over at Jeep as much as they wilil be competing wilth Chevy and Ford
dealers. Durango is larger and boasts a higher towing limit than the
Jepp Cherokee. Its frame-and-body construction is more trucklike than
the unitized body of Cherokee. Dodge market planners expect that about
65% of Durango buyers will order the 5.2-liter V8 engine and 25% will
opt for the 5.9-liter V8. The rest will choose the base engine, a V6.
Prices will fall between Cherokee and Grand Cherokee for comparably
ewuipped vehicles."
