wheels of steel

I called the place Andre got his custom 15x8's from to see about the
feasability of a 15x8 with the huge amount of backspacing I'm looking
for. I'm sending for the catalog ($2 refund. on 1st order - Wheels of
Steel, 1412 Switzer St., Unit C, Visalia, CA 93291 for those
interested) but the guy on the phone didn't seem to know what he was
talking about. I couldn't make him understand that I just wanted to
know if it was possible to do a 6 1/2 - 7" backspace on an 8" wide
wheel. He kept trying to explain how to measure backspacing on my
current wheel. Then he commented that a 275 tire was pretty big.
When I told him there was more than enough room under there he says
"Well, an 8" wide wheel should fit then." And I'm thinkin' "I know! I
know! I'm asking about backspacing!!" I guess it's not a simple
subject after all. I'm only posting this so those you that are also
lookin' for custom rims know to make sure you know what you want/need
before you buy....this guy told me with a custom backspace rim they
     won't take 'em back.

Thanks for the number though Andre. I found the ad in the back of a
Sport Truck mag and I'm eager to see the catalog. I'll post what I
     find out after it comes.
