Well, I think for now I have cleared up the clearance problem with
the new Doug Thorley headers. I was able to get a little more room by
applying pressure to the crossover section, and using a better clamp. Then
we (my friend and I) took a dremel, and rounded the edges of the turn-knuckle
that was hitting the headers... Just rounded the edges. I haven't had a
problem since. When I did was turning hard left turns, while using the gears
to slow down (engine torquing)...
My first impression... WOW! It has made a great difference in
low end, and mid range... I did a few 0-60 times and with a stop watch
(the same I was using before), I got consistance 7.25-7.50 readings...
Not bad for a truck with BFG AT tires, eh?
To anyone else out there with the DT headers, did you put any
heat shield material around your wiring/AC condensor/etc??? It really
feel that it is needed, and those headers put out tremendous amounts of
heat...
Anyway, that's all for now!
