You know Rob, I tried the compression test gauge and found different
readings, so when I pulled the motor apart, I used this formula given to me
by Mr. Herb McCandeless himself over the phone. Here goes...
1) (bore squared) x (12.87) = area in bore cc's (Ab)
2) (Ab) x (stroke) = volume in each cylinder (Ac)
3) (Ab) x (deck height 0.040) = volume of the deck height (Ad)
4) (Ab) x (head gasket thickness stock 0.0475) + Head gasket volume (Ae)
5) (Head cc's 62) = (Af)
6) (Ac)+(Ad)+(Ae)+(Af) = total cylinder volume at BDC....... divided by total
cylinder volume at TDC
    (Ad)+(Ae)+(Af)= volume at TDC
62 cc heads
196.757cc area in bore
651.268cc volume in cylinder bottom
7.87cc my 0.040 head gasket, hence my compression increase
7.87cc 0.040 measured deck height
729.008 bottom volume divided by 77.74 upper volume = 9.3775
I was told by Crane that the 2030 doesn't like anything over 9.8cr, I still
want 11.0 though!!!!! Shaving the heads with thinner shim gaskets will get
one close to 10.0 compression. Hope this helps you out. Does anyone know the
cc's for a 0.0475 head gasket??????????????
