Sure can Scott. I ordered an Edelbrock Signature Series chrome 10"
diameter open element air cleaner (edel p/n 1208) from Summit Racing
($18). I ordered a 10" x 2.25" K&N filter (e-1080) which is actually
a Jeep Wrangler stock replacement from Jeg's ($30). The only reason I
ordered from two different places was that Jeg's had the e1080 listed
in the catalog and I didn't want to mess with a special order if
Summit didn't have it in stock. In most cases I deal through Summit
though.
K&N's 10" and Edelbrock's 10" are slightly off but the filter fits.
You'll need to do the "s" shaped 1/4" rod fix or lengthen the stock
assm. to get the Edelbrock to bolt down.
I could "feel" a HUGE difference after the install. The OBD system
immediatley adjusts for the increase airflow. From a guess I'd say at
*least* a 10-15 hp improvement. I'm not sure about the mileage
improvement but it seems to be up as well even with the increase use
of the loud pedal.
If K&N p/n 571501 is the '92-'95 FIPK I would say no. The cowl seems
closer to the throttle body on the '97's so a 14" dia. wouldn't work.
If you're interested I'll email (I've posted it before) the list of
10" dia. filters I got from John at K&N.
I would *definitely* recommend the FIPK clone route.

Can you describe your FIPK setup to me in a little more detail?
What parts did you buy? Could you "feel" a big difference in
performance after installing your FIPK?
Will the K&N 571501 kit for '92-'95 Dakotas work on our trucks?
Thanks again,
