After a good day of 'grudge' racing on Saturday, I thought I
would share a few things about the 'day'.
I first showed up and parked with a bunch of Mopar guys, and
they were surprise that I was going to run. Before I got ready to
run, a guy names Denise driving a mid-60's El Camino gave me the low
down about how to run, and was a great help! He was the first person
I ran against... 375 hp to the ground vs. 211 is no match! He ran a
mid 13 @ 100.0 mph... But it was fun... The one stock Dakota their
for the day won't go against me (he ran 3 times against other cars,
then parked it as it was a 'tow' vehicle for another car. He told
me that he ran a best of 16.1@85 mph (V8, K&N filter, 3.55 gears,
automatic, and lowered...) I was please with my performance against
the 5.0 Mustang LX, '95 Eagle Talon 4wd turbo, and the stock '96 Z28..
They all beat me, but not more than 1 car length (Z28, Mustang and
Talon were fender and 3/4 length.) After my second to last run, a
couple of guys running Z28's wanted to know how I was doing... They
said I was doing great, probably the fastest 'truck' there besides
the Syclone that day... And running All Terrain tires!
The guy that beat me in the mustang: When I came along side
him afterwards, I said "Great race, that was fun." He replied "I
really BOGGED off the line, and had 'problems'." I then said
"Well, I didn't..." and left. What a jerk! My friend was taking
pictures of all of my runs, and said that the mustang didn't bog,
and actually had the same amount of wheel spin as me (a great take
off for me). I guess he was hoping for a bigger win??
Jules, I need more power (the bug has hit me!).....
I'd like to get under 14.90.. :)
