i sort of have it narrowed down to either the bf goodrich radial all
terrain ta's or the michelin ltx-at's. probably go up from the 235's to
30x9.5's for a little more clearance under the axle.
use is primarily city/highway, with a little mild field/gravel road usage.
my main concerns are wet pavement control, braking effectiveness,
ride quality,
noise, in that order.
what do you think?
thanks,--

Howard,
Either of the tires listed above are fine choices, and perform well in
all of the areas above.
Some options you may not have considered are;
Yokohama Super Digger V - Outstanding wet/dry handling. Long
wear, quiet. Good for general off-road use.
BFG Trail T/A. - Not available in a 30x9.50... LT235/75 or 31x10.50.
Same comments as above.
Dunlop Rover R/V - Slightly more aggressive tread. Good wet / Great
dry traction.
As far as the private label brands go, Great tires are available at a big
savings over the above.
Uniroyal - Goodrich Sport King LT/AT. Available at Discount Tire, NTW
Western Auto and others.
Outstanding road attributes (wet/dry handling, traction, wear and
quiteness)
Kelly - Cordovan Dakota All-Terrain. Sold thru PepBoys. I have a set of
31x11.50x15 on mine. $289 for a set of 4.
This is the first time I have run something other than a BFG, Dunlop
or Yokohama tire on a truck and I am impressed. Very good wet
traction. I have'nt had the truck in the mud since installing the tires,
but I'm sure they are up to the job.
