Big block? The crate motors (they're small blocks) use the same block
and head castings as the 5.9L Magnum in the Ram and Dakota R/T. Both
have roller valvetrains (standard rockers). Granted the internals are
stepped up abit but that's expected for a upto 380 horse motor.
I can't remember what the valve sizes are on the 5.9L so I cant say if
the 1.925 int. and 1.625 exh. valves in the crate motors are standard
issue or not.
As for being carbed...pull the intake and distributer, slap your fuely
stuff on there and you're good to go. I'm sure someone would be
interested in a aluminum intake for a carb for their truck. Heck, I'm
even curious about *that* kind of mod.
If you're looking for *stock* short and long block prices you should
be able to simply call the parts department at your local dealership.
I'd be willing to bet you could build one cheaper than what Mother
Mopar would want for one though.
Just food for thought.

That sounds like the engines in the Mopar Performance catalog. They're big
block (360 cid - 5.9l) and they're carburetted.
I'd like to know what a Magnum engine runs - short block and long block.
Anyone?
