Hey Earl;

Don't know what state of tune your truck is in, but if you don't have any
computer codes registering I would look at the plugs, rotor, cap and wires
first off, especially at 87K.

Some times, maybe 10% of the time when I crank my Dakota it runs very
rough and the motor runs fast for a couple of seconds. If I leave the
motor running it seems to miss and spark Knock.. I can normally cut
the engine off and re start it and it will be smooth just like nothing
happened. The other day, it took about 5 restarts to smooth out.
does anyone have any ideas? I dont remember it ever doing this other
than the first time it is cranked each day.

By the way, I have a 92 extend cab V6 with about 87k, 5spd .
