Low Voltage

I had fun this morning.

I've been riding my Ninja all week, but had a bunch of things to pick
up for the weekend, so I decided to drive my PICK-UP (sic). Anyway, I
got in and got a buzzing sound from the starter. All the dash lights
seemed normal, radio worked. I checked for codes - 12, 55. Now, I had
NOT had the battery disconnected for well more than 50 starts! Aha!
Quick look at the Voltmeter - that seems a little low. Popped the hood
and checked the battery with a DMM - 10.82 volts. Dead cell.

I've got a new battery in it, and all appears well. I just thought it
interesting that the SBEC would drop out, while even the radio presets
are just fine. The buzz is evidence that there wasn't enough there to
hold the bendix in engagement.

Dead battery was a 7 yr old Delco - served me well. The stock battery
lasted only three years.

Honorable Memorial Day!

the victimized innocent bystander: the lawfully armed Citizen.
