I have a 94 also and I replaced the factory speakers almost immediately.
As long as you keep the volume knob at respectable levels you shouldn't
have any trouble. If you like it loud you'll eventually crisp the
amplifier in the stock unit. You'll also have tons of clipping because
its running at half the expected load.
