I don't know what the differences are between the two distributor bodies,
but I imagine that the body, cap and rotor are different along with the
Hall effect switch. It may be that they made the 3.9 shaft and gear
lighter with the feeling that the 3.9 would see lighter duty.

I personally beat the tar outta mine, which probably explains my gas
mileage.
