Jarrod,

Welcome aboard! The 14" air cleaner will not fit a '97 due to clearance
probs with the rad hose. I wonder if you could swap out a '96 rad
hose, which would not interfere with a 14" air cleaner. There might
not be the same hood clearance as a '96 though (the '96 hose just barely
clears the hood; it's routed over the a/c lines). Check back in the
Dakota archives, there are quite a few posts on FIPK topics.

The '96 SBEC (ie, computer) isn't even out yet! We've been anxiously
waiting. Anyway, it probably wouldn't be compatible for a '97 since
the '97s use a different auto tranny than the previous V8s (they use
the Grand Cherokee's with a higher first and second gear, instead of
the close-ratio 46RE on '96s).
