Well, thanks to the suggestions from this NG, I got the problem fixed! I
had a lot of play in the steering shaft between the two universal joints.
The weak point is where a smaller diameter shaft fits into a larger one, no
support. I took a short metal bar and two hose clamps, wala! Hey, is
anyone else getting pressure from the wife to trade-in the truck for a
minivan? I just can't do it. I think a Durango would be a nice
compromise!
