They tested it by measuring the paint's thickness from all parts of the
truck. The only part that passed was the tailgate. The dealer said that
it was a short time period that this mistake happed and was limited to the
metallic based colors. Seems like they missed a pass of paint or coating
of some sort. The paint on my truck looks absolutely great. But they feel
it would give in within a year.

I'm just glad they did start another 1990 (late 80's) incident with peeling
paint.

Ok... This is the second time I have heard of a "recall" on 97s for
paint reasons. A month or two ago, there was a posting about some guy's
brother getting the same story. Does any body have the scoop on this?
I would like to know since there were some minor flaws in my paint when
I received my truck. Nothing to worry about at the time, but I would
like to get this taken care of if it is a legitimate problem.
