That's debatable Bill. An auto shifts faster, it's pretty hard to beat
that, but you can hold a 5 spd to the red-line better. As well, with
non-turbo engines, you don't necessarily want to keep the RPMs maxed as you
shift, so a slight drop is ok, and you can utilize more of the power band.
This is all providing the guy shifting can maintain a reasonable pace in
shifting. I haven't met many people who can really work a stick. Nothing
is more pleasing that out-driving one of your buddies in his own car!
He'll probably never let me drive it again. Hell, once his knuckles
unfroze from the dash, he was scramblin' to get back into the drivers seat.
