The S-bar is to replace the factory bracket and bolt. If you look
closely, the factory bracket partially blocks each venturi, which
to some extent probably produces turbulent airflow. By removing
the bracket, we are hoping to smooth out the airflow in that
region. To what extent this helps, I'm unsure, but I don't think
that it hurts. Plus, it's cheap.

I used a piece of 1/2" heater hose. The breather end was a little
tight,
but it won't come off. The air cleaner end worked perfectly.

I don't think there is room for any larger filter than what is provided
with the air cleaner (the K&N E-1080 as well). I wouldn't want the
air cleaner touching the hood pad, and remember the engine is
going to torque over so it will scrape it up too. I would definately
find one at a parts house and try it out first.
