Jack,
The S shaped air filter clamp bolt isn't needed to install the open filter
element, but you won't get maximum effect without it or something similar.
As Jules of Magnum Performance indicated it's possible, and a lot simpler
and easier to just turn the stock bolt upside down so that the sheet metal
bracket is up near the top of the air cleaner instead of being on the
throttle body blocking air flow.
