O2 sensor replacement -Reply

Mike,

I have the ext. warranty on my 92 Dak. When I thought it was time to
replace my O2 sensor, I, too, did not know where it plugged in. So, I just
took it in to Manuel Chrysler, Richardson, TX., to let them change it and fix
a few other things. I knew the sensor was not under the warranty, but,
what the heck, let 'em change it. I couldn't break it free, either.

Well, my service advisor had it fixed under warranty! He said, "If
anyone asks, it was stumbling and belching black smoke."

I took the part back to Pep Boys and got my $63 back.

So, doesn't hurt to try, sometimes.

Well since I have over 63k miles its time to replace my o2 sensor. And
since you have to remove the old one anyway when you put DT headers
on I
thought I'd go ahead and buy one. Question; how do you unplug this
thing? Does it unplug right at the sensor or do you unplug the long
wire from somewhere else? Also how much should I be paying for a
new
sensor? So far I've gotten $54 and $74 (ouch!). Haven't tried the
dealer yet....

Thanks.
