Currently I change oil every 3000 K's and never need add anything in
between changes. On other units in the past (ones I liked) I changed oil
every 5000 K's and still need not add oil between changes. Normally I
stick to one brand of oil (Quaker state)
On those other units in my past that ran good, but were not my prize units
I would use any name brand oil and still need not add oil in between. Now
for the units that I really didn't car much for but got me where I was
going I would change the oil with anything I could get on sale but still
changing them as regular as I could or when the oil was dark brown but
before it was black, and on these I had to add a little additional (1/8 to
1/4 can) oil in between changes. The only real users of oil was a black
dodge step side short box 4x4 with 318 it needed engine repair but I was
too broke to fix, and a barracuda with 318 that was just tired out.(ended
up swapping this for a 340 engine)
now the truck needed oil every week or so the car needed it every couple of
weeks. My point here is the only units that needed additional oil (with me)
were the ones in need of some engine repair work.
so I expect you will be in need of some engine repair yourself.
The only thing that baffles me is that you only have 60000 miles shouldn't
need repair unless the other owner didn't take care of it.
any ways find yourself a good mechanic you can trust.
good luck.
