Can someone educate me a bit on Ignition systems? Specifically for the
97 DAK?
1). How is the MSD 6AL wired up to a DAK?
Where is the stock ignition on the DAK?
2). I THINK....
The coil is connected to the distributor cap. The
distributor is wired to each spark plug. The
distributor has a 'rotor' that spins and supplys a
spark from the coil to each spark plug. Is this
correct? What is connected to the coil to make it
do something? What makes the rotor in the distributor
cap rotate?
3). what are 'points'?
4). How would you go about replacing the spark plug wires and
the distributor cap? It looks like it would be difficult
to remove the spark plug wires from the distributor and
remember which spark plug each wire goes to. All I see
are a mass of 9 ( 8 plugs and a coil ) wires attached
to the distributor. Not real self explanitory.
Can you remove the distributor cap with ALL of the wires
attached, replace the cap and all of the wires and
re-install the cap? Any hints?
Thanks.
