I get it. That's the computer that has 32 inputs (including one for
battery temp) and 28 outputs! I knew that, but I was being ignorant to the
fact that some cars are 'non-OBDII". I guess that makes them OBDI (first
release) or no OBD at all, like in the older trucks.

So what year did they go from OBD to OBDII?

I have to remember, there are a lot more than just the '97's out there.

  OBD stands for "On Board Diagnostics" which basically means sensors on
everything watching for oxygen levels in the exhaust, etc. etc. I don't
know everything that is monitored, but I think its quite a bit.
OBDII is just the second "version" of OBD.

  Theres a bit of OBD information, history, etc. in an article on the
DML Home Page about the effects of modifications on OBD-II vehicles. The
