Where did you hear that Karl? I saw a video from Chrysler on the
assembly of the Viper, and there is no "engine break-in". There is a
"test and evaluation" phase where the chassis is run on road simulator,
but that is less than 15 minutes in total. Once its passed that test,
assembly is finished and its crated and shipped. They also made mention
several times of how the Viper used "high quality Mobil 1 synthetic"
right from motor assembly.

I suspect that with the tight tolerances on these high performance
engines that there is less "wear in" than there is on standard run of
the mill engines so maybe the synthetic has less impact.
