Jerry - Well, they can't hire me, 'cause I just retired and I'm not
interested in working another day. I saved lives as an avocation
(volunteer emergency squad and fire department) and vocation (military
installation Safety Director). Also, as a Motorcycle Safety Foundation
instructor, I taught many motorcyclists to ride safely. What do you do
that's worthwhile?

them.

I've never jumped to a conclusion, with or without facts, like you did in
your first sentence. (Well, maybe I did, once or twice. <G>)

Why would they want to *. . . cost the manufacture more money . . . ?*
Think about it.

Jealous of others' salaries, eh?

In my old neighborhood, delivery trucks were usually operated with their
sliding doors open. Ergo, no problem!

>I think there are many other things to focus on as a problem. DONT SWEAT
THE SMALL SH**

I think (note that I used the word *think,* since I'm not an Expert) that
carbon monoxide may not be a big problem for humans or dogs riding in the
cap-enclosed beds of today's low-emission pickup trucks, but I wouldn't
recommend riding there because it's not a very friendly environment in a
crash . . . for humans or dogs. But, if you or your dog want to ride
there, I'll defend your right to do so.

As for sweating the *(small sh**)* . . . I (usually) don't. But I can't
get out of the habit of educating ignorant (not stupid) people, because of
the satisfaction and thanks I've received over the years from people
grateful because my advice saved their lives (like riding motorcycles and
roller coasters, saving lives is the second-best feeling you'll ever get).
What folks do with the info I give them is their business, however. For
example, although I wouldn't ride a block without a safety belt, I don't
think there should be a safety belt law. Ditto on motorcycle helmets.
And, although I'm a vegetarian, I don't think that the government should
specify your diet. All this because I'm not sure where the government
should draw the line. Have a great week!
