I picked up my 92 Dak (ordered) in 2/92.It had 22 miles
on it.The factory took it for a 20 mile test drive. I had
the document.I started the engine and let it warm up.
When I left I backed up,slamed the shifter into first
(without stopping)and gave it half throttle.I left 2 rubber
stips about 25 ft in the parking lot.The dealer is on a
highway.Form a dead stop in drive I floored it.Auto tranny
shifted into 2nd at 5200rpm,into 3rd at 5300rpm.I let off
the gas when a hit 90 mph.I just turned 100k on a trip
to Tennesse from Dallas to get married.1800 miles round trip.
I burned 1/2 a QT off oil running 75-120 on the way up.900
miles in 12 hours.Includeds 1 1/2 hours worth of stops.Took two
days on the return running 70-85.Averaged 15.3 mpg foor the
whole
trip.My truck runs STRONG and Im racing Tommorow at Kennedale.
I have driven this DAk hard always.I believe From personal
experience that if you what the most performance from an engine
than rum break it in hard. You wont lose dependablity
with the way the factories build engines today. If the engine
breaks in Warranty You get to try again.
